Our design philosophy is guided by human scale, memory, and narratives revolving around the Souq being a three-dimensional archive where urban time is experienced sequentially and spatially, not chronologically. The project is built around spatial storytelling, where narratives unfold through movement rather than linear explanation. As all interventions are lightweight, reversible, and non-intrusive, operating at eye-level and walking speed; social interaction becomes central where all spaces are designed to encourage pausing, gathering, conversation, and play.

ALKHALIFA ROAD
شارع الخليفة
A historic commercial spine connecting multiple streets, revived through reactivated stores, kiosks, and classical street lights, pedestrianised to reinforce its role as a primary connector of trade in Manama.

ALTIJJAR AVENUE
شارع التجّـار
A traditional merchants street reinterpreted existing storefronts by uplifting façades, and introducing continuous classical lighting across the street.

ALMUTHANNA ROAD
شارع المثنى
A transitional street repurposed as a linear exhibition space, featuring classic cars and an antique market.

HALWA FACTORY
مصنع الحلوى
Located at the intersection of two main streets, this revamped building turned into a playful edutainment space highlighting the production journey of traditional Bahraini Halwa.

BATELCO MALL
مجمع بتلكـو
A semi-abandoned shopping center with a distinctive architectural character reflecting Manama’s commercial development in the 80s, transformed into an experiential hub, hosting arcade games, cultural exhibitions, and nostalgic activations.

ALZEINAH PLAZA
مجمع الزينـة
Once a prominent shopping destination, rehabilitated to its prime for Bahraini brand pop-ups, with interiors reflecting retro feels.

ALFADHEL SQUARE
ساحة الفاضــل
An open square with a pre-existing urban basketball court, activated for dining and social gathering and reinforced through structured 3×3 basketball tournaments.

ALTAWAWEESH SQUARE
ساحة الطواويش
Historically linked to the pearling industry, the square was reactivated through pearling-inspired family-friendly carnival games.

MANAMA LANE
درب المنامة
A hidden lane, unexpectedly revealing an open-to-air abandoned mall was reactivated through a series of art installations depicting Manama’s traditional markets.
Positioning Manama as a destination of happiness for every generation, the identity was developed by reinterpreting the visual language that defined Bahrain’s golden era. Archival aesthetics, vintage typography and authentic expressions were revived to recreate the spirit of a time when the city was a shared source of joy.
Hawa Al Manama in its second version initiated a movement to reconnect with the city of Manama, to listen to its echoing memories and celebrate its essence. Across 22 days, the streets of the city were brought to life, reconnecting it to the families that once lived there and with the rest of the Bahraini community.
